Section 1:
Western democracies were always hostile or chased after anything communist.U.S didn't want to even think about the USSR because they were indeed communist. During WWll Stalin promised to help the U.S with certain things which he did not and he instead went back on his word causing each of them to lose trust with one another. Ronald Reagan is said to win the cold war because U.S military spending rose 27% of the federal budget under Reagan just to stay even the soviets had to spend 60% of their budget. Which is a reason why Ronald Reagan lead the soviets to a downfall. Although others believe that the soviets were going to collapse anyway because of their economy. They lied about their economy being healthy when they were really struggling. Which means the soviets were going to fall anyway and all Reagan did was speed up the process.
Section 2:
There were many revolutions in the cold war. There was the Chinese revolution which Mao Zedong lead which was called the "Great Leap Forward". It was made to spread communist and to tell the kids that they can do whatever they wanted. This spread to military, the people etc. This revolution lasted for a while from 1966 to 1967. Another revolution would be the Cuban revolution. This revolution was lead by Fidel Castro which began July 1953 and ended January 1959. Castro idea was to also spread communism. With this being the idea of Castro the soviets (which are also communist) decide to help Cuba and sent military equipment including nuclear missiles causing an event known as the Cuban missile crisis. Castro did what he intended to making his revolution a big one. He led the government with Che Guevara but Guevara was shot and killed so it was only Castro after that. The next revolution was in Berlin which is the Berlin wall. This revolution lasted from March 1989 and ended April 1992. The Berlin wall was to divide people from Berlin. It was also caused by political repression the situations in Berlin. The people did mass-protest, riots, etc to get rid of this wall that divided Berlin. This was a big revolution in Central and Eastern Europe.
Section 3:
There were many conflicts created because of the cold war. The Vietnam war was one of the effects of the cold war. Viet Minh supporting the communist movement in Vietnam. Although the U.S and the Soviets weren't there physically they both still spent money on that war. This start September 1945 and ended March 1946. Another event was the Korean war. North Korea invaded South Korea during this time of the cold war. Soviet union and China helped Korea with supplies and other things that were needed. This went back and forth and it started June 1950 and ended July 1953.
Section 4:
The Cold war came to an end because the Soviet Union couldn't keep up with the U.S. The Soviet Union was economically unstable but they presumed to look as if they were economically healthy which led to their downfall. Ronald Reagan and Gorbachev the final leaders of Cold war in U.S and U.S.S.R. Ronald Reagan was believed to have ended the cold war. He played tricks on the Soviet Union making them spend more and more making their economy worse which ended the cold war. The Soviet Untion ended and fell ending the cold war and having Reagan as final leader at the time.
Section 5:
I think the U.S may have started the cold war due to them trying to keep communism contained through Truman Doctrine. Since the Truman Doctrine stated wherever communism goes the U.S goes it set problems around that couldn't be solved. This caused the Cold war in my opinion. Many different countries were involved in the cold war. It set a huge global effect that causes many problems but these problems came to end after 44 long years.
